The Foundation Research Centre on Economics and Social Affairs (CIES) is an organisation founded in 1992 in the city of Barcelona, Spain, by a group of outstanding academicians in economic, social and legal science.

Our mission is to help organisations create economic and social value by providing productive, efficient and profitable tools, studying the combination of economic efficiency and social interests. By means of:

1.- Raising the awareness of experts and administration representatives with respect to the importance of combining economic efficiency with social interests.

2.- Carrying out, fostering and disseminating studies on the promotion of social economy.

3.- Establishing relationships between entities, companies and public administrations interested in achieving sustainable community development.

CIES carries out the following information, training and research activities:

a) It organises courses at any level of education, conferences and seminars.

b) It performs studies and prepares reports related to the foundation's objectives.

c) It participates in European and international study groups that are related to the foundation's objectives.

d) It establishes relationships with other private entities that have similar objectives as well as with national, European or international public organisations.
